routine PUMPING
A septic tank's main function is to trap the solids, until it is time to have them removed (pumped). Once the percentage of solids have accumulated to around 25-35% of the overall liquid volume, it is time to be pumped. Maintaining a routine pumping schedule is highly recommended, in order to keep a septic system working efficiently and effectively. The frequency of pumping is based soley on how the home is used (the number of occupants, full time vs. part time use, etc.) After we have pumped a tank we will recommend a recall date for the next service visit, based on the amound of solids removed
effluent filter cleanings
An effluent filter is an effective preventive feature that is located with in a septic tank. They are designed to prevent suspended solids from traveling out into the drainfield, with the intention of expanding the lifespan of a system. If your septic tank contains an effluent filter, it is important to know how often it will need to be maintained (cleaned). Depending on the usage and diet in the home, an effluent filter may need to be cleaned in between pumpings to prevent any inconvienient backups into the home.
First Maintenance and routine inspections
We are registered in the following towns to perform First Maintenance and Routine Maintenance Septic Inspections of conventional systems;
North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Jamestown and Charlestown.
Click on your town's link, to learn more about their respective requirements
point of sale inspections (includes a flow test)
If you are buying or selling a property that possess a coventional septic system, it is recommended to have this inspection performed. The purpose of this inspection is to identify the structural and funtional integrity of a septic system and its components. The customer will recieve a detailed report consiting of facts, findings, and recommendations.
Charlestown requires this inspection to be performed before the sale of a home takes place. Please note that this report will not be filed with the town, until our office recieves a request to do so.
If you are planning to schedule a Point of Sale Inspection, please remember NOT to have the tank pumped beforehand. It is important for us to observe how the system is functioning at the present time. An empty tank does not allow for this, and could also prevent a flow test from taking place
